BIO
Siva Sai Jeevanantham is a 27-year-old documentary photographer based in Chennai, India. He is currently working as an assistant faculty at DOT School of Design, design college in Chennai. He is a graduate of Photography Design from National Institute of Design (NID), India. Siva Sai started his photography practice in 2012, during his practice he explored different mediums of image making- ranging from alternative photography practices, archives to digital image making. Through his personal and documentary practice he intends to create cognitive dissonance in human minds. His area of enquires revolve around human conflicts and satire. The idea of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ has always intrigued him, and his work refuses to conform to this binary. Exploring the grey area of human righteousness to understand his own right is something that he aims to achieve through his practice.

PROJECTS

2020 – Upside Down – is about how the Indian education system works on a flawed idea of ‘success’- bringing about the death of creative thinking in young minds.
2019 – In the same river – looks at the family photographs of victims of enforced disappearance in India controlled Kashmir to look at the importance of memory in the resistance movement.
2018 – Avant-Garde Politics – Is a political satire based on the freebie culture in Tamil Nadu’s politics, where every political party promises free goodies to win elections.
2017 – Animals in Love – documents the life of five zoophiles (people who have an emotional, sexual or platonic relationship with their domesticated animals) to understand human desire
